Other Programs run for Year 9's students throughout the Year

Connect 9

Connect 9 is a mentoring program aimed at year 9 students run by Benalla’s Tomorrow Today Foundation. During Connect 9 young people are matched to a mentor, who will be their “buddy” throughout the program. During the 10 week

duration of the program, a variety of activities are undertaken, with the final one being a flight in a glider at Benalla airfield.

Achievement Portfolios and Careers Intensive Program

All Year 9 students at Benalla P-12 College complete an intensive career program.  Students complete a Career Action Plan, employability skills audit, resume, career research, goal setting, Safe@work certificates, job application letters and collected evidence of their achievements.  This work then forms an achievement portfolio which is designed to be revisited over the next three years.

All students undertake mock job interviews which involves all elements of the job application process. Students dress up for their interviews, with a  panel made up of staff and community members.

In conjunction with this intensive career development, many Year 9 students are referred to the Paid part-Time Work program and the Connect 9 program.
